
CARMEN, Bohol- In line with the continuation of the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) that is now on its fourth cycle, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 has recently turned over P1,603,200 to the local government unit (LGU) of this town.
The turn over ceremony was done during the Health, Education, Agriculture, Tourism, and its, Information Technology (HEAT-IT) Bohol Caravan which was attended by top officials of the province headed by Gov. Edgar Chatto.
HEAT-IT caravan is joined by national line agencies, provincial government offices, and the private sector where in various services are being offered.
Carmen Mayor Ricardo Francisco Toribio personally accepted the cheque from DSWD-7 representative Papiasa Bustrillos.
The amount given to the LGU will be utilized for the purchase of viand and is expected to benefit more than 1,300 children from Carmen’s 40 day care centers while another P400,800 was allocated for the purchase of rice from the National Food Authority.
SFP complements the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program of the government.
Aside from the food augmentation support provided to LGUs, SFP aims to improve the knowledge, attitude and practices of children, parents and caregivers through intensified nutrition and health education.
Also, on the same occasion the Bohol Provincial Winners of Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya were awarded and recognized.
Norma Ewican and family from barangay Alegria in this town won first prize with P5,000 cash followed by Margie Albaran and family from La Salvacion also from this town with P3,000. Edith Mahinay and family from barangay Sohoton, Calape went home with P2,000 as third prize winner. Winning families were given certificate of recognition and travel allowance to attend the activity.
Moreover, some 2,000 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries received family packs from DSWD-7 during the HEAT IT caravan.
