Solo parent beneficiaries of Project LAWA at BINHI in Pamplona, Negros Oriental, said the program has been highly beneficial in meeting their needs, particularly in ensuring food security. In an interview, one solo parent emphasized that the initiative helped sustain their family’s food supply and support her children’s school expenses.

“Isip usa ka solo parent, dako gyud og natabang ang LAWA at BINHI sa among pamilya, ilabi na sa pagkaon ug sa panginahanglan sa akong mga anak sa eskwelahan. Karon, naa nami kapanguhaan og pagkaon ilabi na kung duna mi kalit nga panginahanglan,” Leah Angana, a solo parent and partner beneficiary of Project LAWA at BINHI, shared.

Furthermore, Vilma Jeminez, another solo parent and partner beneficiary of the program, shared that she will use the financial assistance she received for the educational expenses of her children.

“Dako gyud amo pasalamat sa DSWD nga na apil mi sa ing-aning programa. Amo ni gamiton pang allowance sa ako mga college na anak. Lisod kaayo karon panahon labi na kay wala ko katabang sa pag paskuyla nila kay naaksidente man ako bana,” Jeminez shared.

Lilibeth Cabiara, the Disaster Response Management Division Field Office 7 Chief, added that the DRMD FO7 is committed to bringing DSWD services to vulnerable sectors in society through the Risk Resiliency Program (RRP) Project LAWA at BINHI.

“It’s fulfilling to hear this feedback from our partner beneficiaries, especially since the project implementation of Project LAWA at BINHI requires extensive effort. Rest assured, the Disaster Response Management Division remains steadfast in its mission to reach society’s most vulnerable groups and ensure their right to access our services. We uphold our commitment: service, inclusion, and dignity for all,” Cabiara said.

Meanwhile, Regional Director Shalaine Lucero expressed her appreciation for the feedback from solo parents. She reiterated DSWD’s dedication to sustaining programs that support solo parents as part of broader efforts to reach the vulnerable sectors.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Local Government Unit of Pamplona for their unwavering support in rolling out Project LAWA at BINHI and salute the dedication of our partner‑beneficiaries, especially solo parents, whose resilience transforms the implementation into tangible gains. Through the Department of Social Welfare and Development, we empower vulnerable sectors with cash-for-work, water harvesting, and sustainable agricultural initiatives, ensuring that every Filipino, regardless of their status, has access to our services.
