Disaster-affected families in the Visayas can now receive food assistance faster with the new Mechanized Production System (MPS) at the Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC) in Barangay Tingub, Mandaue City.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., joined by DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, leads the visit and inspection of the new Mechanized Production System at the Visayas Disaster Resource Center in Barangay Tingub, Mandaue City, Cebu on February 26, 2026.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the walkthrough and inspection of the new MPS alongside DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, marking a decisive step in strengthening the country’s disaster preparedness. Through this initiative, the government reinforces its capacity to respond swiftly whenever communities face urgent need.

The government completed the P117.9 million additional machinery upgrade in July 2025 using the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund. The upgrade installed five mechanized production lines and advanced automatic vacuum packaging systems to streamline operations and boost efficiency.

With the new system fully operational, the VDRC now produces up to 30,000 Family Food Packs per eight-hour shift—tripling its previous capacity. This expanded capability allows the agency to replenish supplies more quickly, dispatch assistance faster to affected areas, and significantly reduce waiting time for families in evacuation centers and disaster-stricken barangays all over Visayas and Mindanao. ###
