DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian also attended the event and interacted with the beneficiaries with an inspiring message, emphasizing that “Through thick or thin, magkakasama tayo” (Through thick or thin, we are in it together).

For the beneficiaries, the support marks a crucial step toward rebuilding livelihoods disrupted by the storm. Roldan Teves, one of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude for the financial assistance, saying, “Ang gobyerno, dili layo sa mga tao pinaagi ani nga ‘hinabang’ (The government is not far from its people, through this assistance).”

The emergency cash assistance helps the affected with their needs as they work to restore their sources of income in the tourism sector.

DSWD Field Office 7 personnel facilitated the payout in coordination with the Department of Tourism and the local government unit. Through strong collaboration, the agencies delivered the aid efficiently and upheld the dignity of those they served.

Through this initiative, the government affirms its solidarity with affected tourism workers, recognizing their vital role in the local economy and honoring their resilience in the face of adversity.

DSWD Field Office 7 continues to deliver prompt, organized, and responsive assistance to disaster-affected communities, carrying out the directive of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to extend immediate and meaningful support to individuals and families impacted by Typhoon Tino. ###
