SEC Advocacy and Network (SEC CAN) is a nationwide advocacy campaign network composed of representatives from the public and private sectors with a shared mission to promote financial literacy and investor education to all Filipinos.

It serves as a channel for the SEC and its partner organizations to collaborate on information, education, and communication (IEC) initiatives aimed at raising awareness of business and capital markets and encouraging participation therein. These initiatives include the conduct of webinars, the development, and dissemination of IEC materials, and the publication of newsletters, among others.

SEC-Cebu Extension Office Director Atty. Sheara L. Lupango-Tamayo expressed that this undertaking ensures a better economy for everyone. “With the advent of social media, get-rich-quick schemes are now aplenty. Through this partnership, combating these illegal activities is going to be a lot easier and faster,” Director Lupango-Tamayo added.

DSWD-7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie S. Lucero underscored that helping SEC fulfill its mandate “could also help us, especially in financial literacy for the employees and beneficiaries of our programs and services.” She said SEC has been DSWD’s partner in the registration of its partner social welfare and development agencies (SWDAs), civil society organizations (CSOs), and people’s organizations (POs). ###
