The 27 implementing Local Government Units (LGUs) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7 – Central Visayas, through the KALAHI-CIDSS Panahon ng Pagkilos: Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP), have begun conducting the Participatory Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (PRVA) as part of the Community Resilience Implementation Process (CRIP).

The Municipal Resilience Team, in collaboration with the Barangay Resilience Team, conducted a two-day risk assessment in Barangay Lapinig, Municipality of President Carlos P. Garcia, Bohol. The activity was led by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) as part of the community’s resilience-building efforts.

Area Coordinating Teams facilitate the PRVA with active participation from Barangay Resilience Team (BResT) community volunteers, the Barangay Development Council (BDC), and other stakeholders. Meanwhile, the Municipal Resilience Team (MResT) guides BResT and BDC members by providing technical assistance during the barangay risk and vulnerability assessment.

The Area Coordinating Teams facilitated the Participatory Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (PRVA) alongside the Barangay Resilience Team (BResT) community volunteers, the Barangay Development Council (BDC), and various other stakeholders. The Municipal Resilience Team (MResT) provides technical assistance to both BResT and BDC members in evaluating the risks and vulnerabilities encountered by the barangay.

The program aims to conduct 611 Participatory Risk and Vulnerability Assessments across Central Visayas during July. This initiative follows the successful barangay assemblies, where the Area Coordinating Team and Municipal Resilience Team outlined the objectives of the PCRP, the Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach, and the benefits that communities, especially those in disaster-prone areas, can derive from the program.

The series of activities that involve active community participation play a crucial role in identifying the most urgent needs of each barangay. Through the Participatory Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (PRVA), the program ensures that the sub-projects implemented under the PCRP are aligned with the actual conditions and needs of the community. This approach enhances their ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. ###
